Ward 3 - Jim Forrest

J_Forrest.jpgJim Forrest, one of three trustees for Ward 3, was elected in 2017 and is in his first term. Ward 3 represents schools in the City of Airdrie.

Jim is no stranger to Rocky View Schools. As a former teacher and administrator in Airdrie for 36 years, Jim has dedicated himself to ensuring that Rocky View students receive the best instruction and education possible. He is hoping to continue pursuing that goal in a different capacity as a trustee.

Prior to his retirement in 2017, Jim was actively involved in his schools and communities. He coached middle school badminton and high school speech and debate teams, ran student lunch hour clubs, developed student leadership programs, organized multiple school trips to Ottawa and Quebec, and judged 4-H public speaking. He supported Airdrie’s bid for the Airdrie Alberta 2014 Summer Games, as well as Airdrie’s Alberta 2020 Winter Games by receiving visiting delegates and showcasing student community talent and enthusiasm. In 2016/2017, he was the Sagewood school liaison for the Welcoming Airdrie community development initiative.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education in Educational Administration, both from the University of Calgary.

Jim and his wife have called Airdrie home for the past 30 years, raising two daughters who attended schools in Rocky View. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, playing golf, learning other languages, reading and spending time with family – especially his two new granddaughters, who are also future Rocky View Airdrie students!
